500X Pressure Relief Valve / Pressure Control Valve – Pilot-Operated Multi-Function Valve for Overpressure Protection or Pressure Holding in Pipelines

The Coliter® 500X Pressure Relief/Pressure Control Valve is a versatile, hydraulically self-operated control valve that functions either as a pressure relief valve (to limit upstream pressure) or as a pressure sustaining (holding) valve (to maintain minimum upstream pressure), depending on pilot configuration. Ideal for water supply networks in high-rise buildings, residential complexes, and municipal projects, it ensures system safety and stability without requiring external power. The valve assembly includes a main valve, pilot valve, needle valve, ball valves, micro filter, and pressure gauges. In relief mode, when inlet pressure exceeds the pilot’s setpoint, the pilot opens to discharge water via ball valve C, reducing pipeline pressure. In holding mode, if upstream pressure drops below the setpoint, the pilot closes to restrict flow and maintain required pressure—typically with ball valve C closed or plugged. The entire system operates using line pressure only, enabling reliable, energy-efficient, and maintenance-friendly performance. Constructed from ductile iron or cast steel, rated at PN16 (1.6 MPa), and suitable for media temperatures up to 80°C, it handles clean water exclusively. Available in sizes from DN20 to DN800 with flanged end connections per GB/T 17241.6. By integrating dual functionality into one unit, the 500X simplifies system design while providing critical overpressure protection or pressure stabilization in dynamic water distribution networks.

The 500X pressure relief/holding valve consists of a hydraulic control connecting system consisting of a mainvalve, pilot valve, needle valve, ball valve, micro filter, and pressure gauge. Utilizing hydraulic automatic operation, itcan be used as both a pressure relief valve and a pressure holding valve. When using a pressure relief valve, thewater supply pressure can be maintained below the set safety value, while maintaining the upstream water supplypressure of the main valve. Its working principle: When the pilot valve is adjusted to a pressure relief state, waterfows to the outlet through the needle valve, main valve control room, ball valve A, pilot valve, and ball valve B. Atthis time, the main valve is in an open state. When the inlet pressure exceeds the safety value set by the pilot valve, the pressure relief pilot valve wll automatically open, and some water wll be discharged through ball valve C torelieve pipeline pressure; When acting as a pressure relief valve, each ball valve is always open. When the pilot valveis adjusted to a pressure holding state, as long as the inlet water pressure of the main valve is lower than the setvalue of the pilot valve, the pilot valve wll close; When used as a pressure holding valve, ball valve C is usuallyclosed or replaced with a plug. This product utilizes hydraulic self control and does not require other devices orenergy sources. It is easy to maintain and has multiple uses for one valve. It is widely used in water supply networksystems such as high-rise buildings and living areas, as well as urban water supply projects.

Faq - Frequent questions

Coliter®’s hydraulic control valves are pilot-operated, multi-function automatic valves designed for intelligent water system management in high-rise buildings, fire protection, and municipal networks. The series includes the 600X electric hydraulic control valve (remote on/off via solenoid), 500X pressure relief/pressure reducing valve, 400X flow control valve, 300X slow-closing check valve, 200X pressure sustaining valve, and the LHS743X low-resistance backflow preventer. All models use system pressure as the driving force—requiring no external power—and feature brass or ductile iron bodies, Y-strainer integration, and precise pilot control for stable operation. Rated at PN16 (1.6 MPa) and suitable for temperatures up to 80°C, they ensure safe, energy-efficient, and code-compliant water distribution with automatic response to demand changes.
